How
the scheme works
We
help young people to develop independent living skills and move them
into appropriate secure accommodation. The ethos underpinning all aspects
of the work is one of empowerment, encouraging young people to actively
engage in their resettlement, through the following services:
Keyworking
- all
residents are allocated a keyworker, who will work with you to
help you develop the practical skills necessary to maintain your
own home. You will be expected to see your keyworker every week
Assessment – All
residents take part in an assessment of their needs. This includes
a risk assessment and the young person’s own issues and
wishes. The assessment identifies the goals which the young person
will need to achieve in order to gain and maintain their own
tenancy. This will include identifying housing options and agreeing
with young people the areas where they need to develop new skills.
Resettlement
Plan - this
will be drawn up with your keyworker and will consist of individual
tasks to help you achieve the goals identified in your assessment.
Young people are expected to work on your resettlement plan. In
Direct Access, the resettlement plan will be reviewed every week,
with a more formal review of progress every three weeks. In the
Bedsits, the plan will be reviewed fortnightly with a more formal
review every three months.
Skills
for Life and Resettlement Training - we
offer accredited training in the skills and knowledge necessary
to maintain your own tenancy. The training is designed to work
alongside resettlement planning and is offered at different levels
to meet individual need.
Activities - a
regular programme of activities is available for young people to
access, to encourage them to meet new people, increase their confidence
and develop new skills.
Participation – starting
from their involvement in developing their own resettlement plan,
to recruitment of staff and providing feedback about their experience
of Roundabout, the wishes and views of Young People help to shape
the service they receive. Through participation, the self-confidence
and esteem of young people is increased. Roundabout values the
participation of Service Users in the decision making progress.
We believe that User Participation helps the organisation to raise
the quality of the services we offer.
All
young people have the right to access all services offered in the
Hostel and they are encouraged to take part in all services offered.
The services offered are not compulsory. |
